- A 15 yard dumpster fits most full bathroom guts. A 10 yard works for a light refresh, and two bathrooms usually call for a 20 yard.
- Tile, mortar, and cement board are heavy for their size, so watch the weight allowance: 1.5 tons on the 15 yard.
- Schedule delivery the day before demo starts and pickup when demo is finished, not when the whole remodel is done.
- If the home's only bathroom is out of service, a portable toilet keeps the household and crew covered.

What a Bathroom Demo Actually Produces
A bathroom is a small room, but a full gut fills a container faster than most homeowners expect. A typical demo removes:
- Wall and floor tile, plus the mortar bed underneath
- Drywall and cement backer board
- The vanity, countertop, sink, and mirror
- The toilet and the tub or shower unit
- Flooring, trim, and old fixtures
Much of that material is dense. Tile and mortar take up little space but add weight quickly, and an old cast iron tub is one of the heaviest single items in a house. Sizing a bathroom job means thinking about weight as much as volume.
Which Dumpster Size Fits a Bathroom Remodel
Light refresh: 10 yard
Swapping a vanity, toilet, and flooring without tearing out walls fits in a compact 10 yard roll-off.
Full bathroom gut: 15 yard (most common)
Tile, drywall, a vanity, and fixtures from one bathroom fit comfortably in a 15 yard dumpster sized for remodels, with room for the unexpected.
Two bathrooms or a bath plus hallway: 20 yard
Gutting more than one bathroom, or pulling tile across an adjoining hallway, is a job for the 20 yard roll-off.
If the bathroom is part of a larger renovation, the dumpster sizing guide by project type helps you size the whole job at once.
Why Weight Matters on a Bathroom Job
Every container includes a weight allowance: 1 ton on the 10 yard, 1.5 tons on the 15 yard, and 2 tons on the 20 yard. Weight over the allowance is $85 per ton. Bathroom debris is where people go over, because a container full of tile and mortar weighs far more than one full of household junk.
Load the heaviest debris first and spread it across the floor of the container. That keeps the load balanced for the truck.

How to Time Delivery Around Your Contractor
The dumpster only needs to be on site while debris is coming out. On most bathroom remodels, that is the demo phase.
- Book delivery for the day before demo. The crew can start loading first thing.
- Pick a rental length that covers demo. Rentals start at 5 days, which covers most bathroom demos. You can also choose 7, 10, or 14 days.
- Call for pickup when demo is done. You do not need to keep the container through tile setting and painting. If demo runs long, extra days are $15 each.
A 15 yard is $375 for 5 days or $390 for 7 days, plus tax. See our full dumpster pricing guide for every size.
When the Only Bathroom Is Out of Service
If the bathroom being remodeled is the only one in the house, the household and the crew still need a restroom. A portable toilet rental solves that, and we can deliver it alongside the dumpster. Our one-call job site setup guide explains how to place both so they stay out of the way. Portable toilets are booked by phone at (678) 306-9993.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size dumpster do I need for a bathroom remodel?
A 15 yard dumpster fits most full bathroom guts, including tile, drywall, a vanity, and fixtures. A 10 yard works for a light refresh, and a 20 yard is better if you are gutting two bathrooms.
Can I put a toilet and bathtub in the dumpster?
Yes. Toilets, sinks, tubs, and other fixtures are accepted. Cast iron tubs are very heavy, so mention one when you book so we can account for the weight.
Is tile too heavy for a dumpster?
Tile is accepted, but it is dense. A full bathroom of tile and mortar can use a large share of the weight allowance. The 15 yard includes 1.5 tons, and weight over the allowance is $85 per ton.
How long should I rent a dumpster for a bathroom remodel?
Rent it for the demo phase. Rentals start at 5 days, which covers most bathroom demos, and extra days are $15 each if you need more time.
Do I need a portable toilet during a bathroom remodel?
If the bathroom being remodeled is the only one in the home, a portable toilet keeps the household and crew covered. Call (678) 306-9993 to book one alongside your dumpster.
